Overview

Course Description
This course provides a broad overview of the Canadian business system -- how it functions, and how it relates to specific areas such as marketing, production and finance. The course provides a specific insight into actual business operations and some of the major areas of concern regarding the role of business in society.

  • Marketing Mix: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion

Students may conduct research as part of their coursework in this class. Instructors for the course are responsible for ensuring that student research projects comply with College policies on ethical conduct for research involving humans, which can require obtaining Informed Consent from participants and getting the approval of the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Research Ethics Board prior to conducting the research.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, the successful student will be able to:

1. Define and describe the Canadian business system, and its environment, including forms of business ownership and existing and emerging societal issues
 2. Recognize and explain the role of managers in the four functional areas of business: production, marketing, finance and personnel.
 3. Use an enhanced vocabulary of business
