Students will undertake independent research which will be supervised by the isntructor regularly throughout the semester. This will include mandatory, regularly scheduled meetings between the student group and instructor.
Course content is based on the specific research topic agreed upon by the faculty member and students (projects are typically to be completed in small groups of 3-4 students). The students, and if necessary the instructor, will identify a list of readings for the literature review. The content and design of the research project must be approved by the instructor and the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Research Ethics Board (if necessary) before data collection can begin.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Construct an ethics proposal for the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Ethics Board.
- Conduct a comprehensive literature review to address a specific research question.
- Demonstrate ability to participate in the peer review process including the ability to critically analyze and discuss a piece of academic work.
- Develop research methods designed to answer a specific research question.
- Use technology and a poster presentation to communicate research findings in a professional manner.
Evaluation will be carried out in accordance with ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ policy. The instructor will present a written course outline with specific evaluation criteria at the beginning of the semester. Evaluation will be based on the following:
