Course Description
This course will provide the student with a description of some of the economic conditions in third-world countries, and an analysis of the factors promoting and hindering the process of economic development in those countries.
Course Content
- Evolution of economics from barter to cash.
- Models of economic development applied to specific countries.
- International aid organizations.
- Trade Versus aid.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the basic economic issues facing less developed countries.
- Analyze a number of economic issues with reference to the situation in some less developed countries; e.g., international trade as a force for economic growth in Brazil.
